Shri Devi was introduced to yoga in 1995 while searching for a life-changing meditation practice. At the time, her career required an enormous amount of hours and energy that left her feeling anxious. A native of California, it was on a casual visit to a Bay Area yoga studio that changed her perception of yoga forever. Shri Devi learned how to properly use breathing techniques in a rigorous physical meditation practice that was very different from anything else she had experienced. After years of taking a variety of classes, Shri Devi earned her 200-Hour teaching certification specializing in prenatal and restorative practices. She then traveled to India to further her studies with the intention of honoring and respecting the cultural and ancestral lineage of these healing arts. In India, her knowledge of yoga and Ayurveda expanded as she experienced yoga far beyond a series of poses and breathing exercises but as a practice and as a way of life. Shri Devi brings a quiet yet earnest energy into her teaching that allows each student to explore their own yogic journey thus making the practice their own. The focus is about healing the body and mind from within through physical postures (asanas) and breath (prana). Shri Devi’s classes range from energetic to restorative and address calming the mind and emotional energies. Everyone is welcome to go at their own pace and simply enjoy the wonders that yoga can bring (on & off the mat).
